abstract = {This paper focuses on objects collocation for virtual and mixed reality engineering use cases. We propose to study three calibration methods (1 vs 2 vs 3 reference point) for co-locating simulation platforms in virtual environments, using scanned models of the platforms as reference for correlation. Measurements were made on two driving simulation platforms of different sizes, enabling us to quantify tracking performance of Steam VR software with different experimental conditions. Results show tracking accuracy around 45mm at long distances (3m away from the room origin), and around 15mm on short distance (0.5m away from the room origin). Analysis of the results show that calibrate virtual environments using multiple trackers as reference points improve tracking performance with better accuracy, stability and robustness of the simulation platform co-location.},
